IV sedation is designed to help nervous patients ease their dental anxiety during their appointments.
If you decide to have IV sedation, your dentist will administer the sedative before your treatment. It will immediately take effect and make you feel at ease, but you will remain fully aware of what happens around you to allow you to stay in control at all times.
IV sedation may make your treatment seem quicker because of your calm and relaxed state. If you have any concerns, they will be addressed at any time before and during your treatment.

Having somebody to escort you home after your treatment is a must. Although you will remain fully conscious, sedation can cause drowsiness, and you should not operate any machinery. You may also want to avoid going to work or using alcohol before and after your sedation for 24 hours.
