Sometimes, a tooth may not be visible enough above the gum line to have a filling or a crown fitted. In such cases, crown lengthening may be needed to fix your tooth. Your dentist will determine whether you require crown lengthening or not.
You may require a local anaesthetic prior to the treatment to provide you with as much comfort as possible. During the procedure, your dentist will make small cuts in your gum to expose enough teeth. Once done, the affected surgical area will be sterilised before stitching your gum.

Typically, the recovery process for the gums could take up to three months, but it may depend on individual patients, their lifestyle and physical activities. Your dentist will advise if you need to have any follow-up visits.
You may be advised to avoid drinking and smoking immediately after the procedure to have a safe healing process, and you may receive dietary advice.
